Help me with the gradient tool!!

Hello there!

Im testing out some tutorials since im kinda new to web graphics.

In photoshop i want to place a gradient with white as foreground and transparent as background, but HOW do i make the background transparent??

Someone?

In the left upper corner, there's a thingie for that.
Choose the next one from the default, I think.. that's the one you want. It has the foregroundColor fading into the transparent (checkered) stuff.
