I HATE THE PEN TOOL. No matter what I do, I can't figure it out. I can't get anything good to come out of it except to make stupid looking shapes ... and half the time I don't want them to turn out that way. I hate the pen tool! It sucks! And once I make something with the pen, I can't get the pen tool to turn off. So, I HAVE to restart PS. GRRRRR!

.. Just had to get that outta my system.

To get it to go away all you do is close the shape. Or delete the path... or quite a few different things.

hey man to get rid of a path (with is what the pen tool makes) go to your layers pallett click the PATHS tab (or go to WINDOW>SHOW PATHS or whatever) next click the sideways triangle on the right hand side of the pallett and click DELETE PATH also in there is FILL PATH or MAKE SELECTION which will take your path and turn it into a selection. I used the pen tool for my knife hanld here http://organictragedy.tripod.com/galleryimages/kershawknife.jpg trust me ist a GREAT tool, and once you get to know it its like a bestfriend lol. What i did for the handle was made my path then went to the triangle ting and hit FILL PATH and i filled it with black. Then i always have that shape so i can select it whenever i want. Hope this helps!!

yeah, that's all I can say, too. Took me 5 years, (give or take) to learn how to use it - or to even need it, really.

2 minutes... :p I guess it depends on the person.

I used to use the lasso tool for everything I do with the Pen Tool now. Since the Pen Tool proves to be one of the more powerful aspects of Photoshop, there's never a time where I don't use it when Photoshop is open. :]
