I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get the type of font that is used in the navigation of this site? What I mean is the slight black outline that is around it. Is there a tutorial on how to do that or is that actually a font that you can use? Also if it is a tutorial and you put the black outline on it does anyone know what font it is that these guys used? When I try to find a font that is thick like that it usually gets pretty blurry when I make it so small. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

That's a pixel font http://www.04.jp.org this site has some, I also believe a user of this forum has a whole pack of them in a zip file on his site. Those fonts are very sharp and you usually have to use them at one particluar size and with anti-aliasing of. Then you can just add a border with the one pixel pencil. |

or create a new layer and place it under the text layer, CTRL+Click the text layer, go to Select->Modify->Expand->1px, fill the selection with the color of your choice and deselect. |

There's an even easier way, which is also editable. Open the layer styles and choose stroke. Set the midth to 1 pixel and choose outside (instead of middle or inside) and make sure the opacity is at 100%, well, if that's the effect you're going for. This way, if you change the text, the outline changes with it. |
