Open your car picture. Go to channels palette and click the new channel icon (at the bottom). Click the eye on the RGB channel (this shows the car picture with a red layer on top). Pick the polygonal lasso tool. Draw the "beam" (you are still in the channels palette). Click the eye icon next to the RGB palette leaving just the channel layer visible. Make your forground color white. Fill the selection with white. Go to the Filter menu, blur, and Gaussian Blur. Enter at least 8 pixels and click OK to soften the beam. Go back to the layers palette. Go to Select menu and click Load Selection, click OK. Under Select menu click inverse selection. Under Image menu, select Adjust, then Levels, pull the LEFT arrow to the right. Darken the background. Click OK (don't deselect). Go to Select again and inverse again. Go to Image again and Levels again, this time pull the RIGHT arrow to the left. This will lighten the beam of light. Deselect and see the result.

use lens flare, it will achieve a great effect for car lights. just create a new layer, create a lens flare, move the layer down to the headlamps...resize if needed, and just adjust the opacity. |
