One of my favorite features of Photoshop is style, and how elaborate theyc an be. However, complex style seem to take a lot of ram when you try to move the layer to which this style is applied… The reason is simple, Photoshop need to render the style as you move it… Try this quick trick I discover to bypass this problem and keep all the advantage of style… 1) Create a new layer set. 2) Move your layer to your new set 3) Duplicate your layer 4) Create a blank layer 5) Group the copy with the blank layer 6) Merge the copy and the blank layer (Merge linked) 7) Hide the original layer 8) Close the layer set Now if you move you layer set, you will notice how fast it will move, the reason, the visible layer as no style, so it take a lot less ram to move. Also, you did not loose the layer style informations since they are on the hidden version, if you need to make change to you style get rid of your rendered version, show your styled layer, make the changes and repeat this process. Finally, since the rendered version and the styled version are in their own layer set they will move together… Hope you like this trick Feedback would be apriciated... |
