OK, I'm sure this will show exactly HOW new I am, but would someone help me out with what a sig is? (short for signature?) I see great looking graphics in two locations in these posts. One under the members name and one (usually different) in the lower right-hand corner of the text thread. Most of them are pure works of art and I would like to attempt to make one up but don't know anything about starting one. (size of work, saved as, limits on size?, etc) Anyone wanna clue in this old clueless guy?

The sig is the thing in the bottom right hand corner under the posts, and an avatar is the image under the name.

Creating a sig is quite easy. I'm not sure about any size limitations here, but its usually smaller is better, without going too small ofcourse. I usually make 300x60 or something like that. I also usually save as JPG at the highest quality mark.

Here's some sigs that I've created (Most of them are n00bish like me, hehe):

Thats 1 tutorial. Mainly keep it small and keep it to the point (when saving make sure the file size is small too which it usually is anyways).

OK, thanks for the info so far. Now how do I post what I created? I must have missed the part on how to save/download and such. I created a lil thingamabob and saved it as a JPEG. Now what? (it's about 24.4 kb)

I believe acceptable size is anything below 35k, or 25k, I forgot which. After you made it, upload it to a server that allows remote-linking (not Geocities, or anything else on the Lycos network, etc). Then just go to Profile->Edit Profile->Signature and just type in the suitable <img> code in the box.

Oh, a signature image is no different than a regular image. The application may be different, but there is no signature-only techniques. Just guidelines on the content, dimensions and file size.
