I tried to set a color photo over top of a black and white one to airbrush away enough to expose the backround (the grayscale pic) but when I tried to copy onto the first layer, it turned my color photo to grayscale. I tried this with the gray pic locked and unlocked. What did I do wrong, or can this even be done? Thanks in advance for any help on this. |

Open the first image (wich is the grayscaled one) and then cut and paste the colored image onto the greyscale image. Erase everything you want erased and then just flatten the image via the layer/flatten image.........Then, the colored should look like you want it.....

I tried that (again). The problem lies in the cut/paste phase. It turns my color image into a grayscale image before I even do anything. Wait..just saw another tut...gonna go try to change the grayscale image to accept color and see if that works. Yep...that did it. Sorry for the false alarm. (guess I should have read a little closer on one of those tuts) |

The source of your problem is this: The pasted image will reflect to color mode (and resolution) of your first image. Your B&W image must be in grayscale (no color) your second must be in RGB (screen) or CMYK (for print) in color. The solution is simple; before you paste the second image, convert your grayscale image into a color image (Image - Mode - GRG or CMYK) (chose the same mode as your color image). Your B&W image will not be changed, but will now support color, since it’s now a color image... Hope this help you :p |
