Hey, thx for reading! I am familiar with the "Cutout" filter in photoshop to create the desired effect but The lines are as smooth or simplistic... I have illustrator but I was wondering if there was a tutorial or a certain method or steps to acheive this look http://www.bustarhymes.com/wallpapers/wall4_1024.jpg same link, now clickable: http://www.bustarhymes.com/wallpapers/wall4_1024.jpg THX!!:p |

just draw it! Or... first practice with photos. Just take your pen tool and start tracing. You might first want to use the posterize filter to make the colorchanges a bit easier to spot, the brightness/contrast settings are a good way to spot these colorchanges too. |

Yup, take a picture as a reference, take the pen tool, then make the black shapes first. Dark shadows, hair, eyes. Then take a dark tone for normal shadows and a light tone for the rest.

One thing you can do is use: Image --> Adjustments --> Posterize to simplify the image. It might make it easier to trace over (though the colors will be odd after you posterize it.) If you have flash, the Bitmap trace in it is pretty good. |

To avoid weird colors after posterize you could first desaturate your image. btw. http://www.vectorize.de has a tutorial, it's not in photoshop or illustrator but it should give you an idea on how to do it. Open the site, click on portfolio and then tutorial. |
