Hi, I've been working with photoshop for years and I do mostly small biz web design. I've got this project though...and I'm really frustrated with it. Only because I want some the nav bar (and text associated with it) to follow a kind of wave along the top. Now, my only peoblem is...I can't figure out how to do it without typing one letter and moving them individually. I know how to do it inIllustrator using the type path tool. But PS doesn't seem to have somthing similar. Am I missing somthing or do I just have to do it the long way? Thanks! Love this forum. *candice* |

There is no native type-on-a-path capabilty in Photoshop. We've been asking for it for years. Depending on your system you might want to find a version of Extensis Photographics plugin (love it, use it all the time, unfortunately...it's been discontinued) or have a look at Human Software's Magic Track and OttoPaths. |

If you created the warped text in Illustrator, would it retain the paths as is if you imported it into PS?

you know, what you just said may work (importing). I didn't think about it, but...if I make like a jpg out of the PS file I'm working in...bring it over into Illustrator...make my path and type it...then dump the jpg...I should be able to import it...wait maybe not. I think I tried that with a logo once. I'll find out and let you know. Thanks for the info on the plug-in, I'll see if I can get a hold of it even if just to check it out. |

OK, back. That worked. I brought the main image of the site into Illustrator. Drew my path. Put in the type. Trashed the background. Exported the text as a PSD file (this is Illustrator 10 btw). I then opened the PSD file in PS and put the into my site file. Works great as far as I can tell. Any objections to doing it this way (loss of clarity or somthing I'm not thinking about)? Thanks a alot! *candice* |

Yeah. As long as you copy/paste it over through the clipboard and keep the vectors as a shape layer. However, when you import something like that, you end up losing the path the text was on and the text becomes "flattened" to that warped position. So you would have to keep the vectors in Illustrator to edit them if you needed to. |
