Please help! I constantly have this problem of fonts cos I design with a PC and most of my print beareaus use MACs. I understand the Postscript issue but is there anyway around it as it is quite frustraiting. I have tried transfering to illustrator and converting to out lines but then it only looks great with particular fonts and I cannot use small sizes.

Talke with your print house and find out what fonts they use. If you send them the fonts then they can convert them to mac pretty easily. Make sure you are using software that doesnt use faux bolds or italics (like word, eg.) Other then that it shouldnt be an issue. Font outlines work fine until you get to about size six or smaller, but then some fonts that isnt a problem.

Whilst it's not an ideal solution it may be worth getting a copy of fontographer or a comparative program - I occasionaly use it myself and while there is a fairly steep learning curve it makes the process as painless as it get's. Oh and don't cross post |

I sent a lot of Cd work to a print house and I always chose to outline the fonts (because it was a lot less hassle.) and never had any problems. Just in case you were worried that they wouldnt come out nice.

your only legit alternative without actually having the same fonts is do do this: when you build a photoshop text layer, rasterize it when you're done. As long as you don't have to edit the layer, this works just fine. I do it all the time. you can always keep an editable copy of it on a hidden layer underneath it or in a hidden layer set if you want to go back to the PC. |
