I am trying to do a one color postcard and I have some pictures that I want to recolor in tones of red, I know this is most likely a simple task but I have been sitting at the damn machine for 2 hours now and I can't do it!!!!

If anyone can help they will be saving my life!!

Thanks

2 ways..

goto image>adjust>hue/saturation and then check the colorize box,

or

stick a new layer over the image, change the layer mode to color, and then fill it with the color of your choice

those should work.

You can also go

Image > Mode > Grayscale
Image > Mode > Duotone > then from the drop down choose Monotone, Duo, Tri or Quad

then click on the color square(s) and choose which color(s) you want the image to be.

Tip: In a monotone, duotone, tritone, or quadtone mode, you can only save your image as a .psd, .eps, or .raw file. To get around this and save your image as a .jpg, .gif, .tif or whatever, you can either do "Save for Web" (in PS ver. 5.5 and higher) or go back to:

Image > Mode > RGB color

and save.

Solid advice, Pixie...

your method also gives you alot more control over the values rendered in the midtone areas.
