Hi everyone . I am recording a CD and I wanted to do a better job of labeling them than the little "label kits" that have the paper sticker you peel on to the CDR. I looked through my music CD's and I saw that it is almost as if they are printed on. Does anyone know of a website that would show me how to do this myself (if it is possible with photoshop)? If not, then does anyone know of a website that offers such a service?

You can print on a cd using a "thermal printer" that is made for that. What you will get is black on the color of the cd itself, or you can use a matte white covered cd and print full color. You would have to scan through some pages in a local music magazine or check around for some recording studios that might possibly have that printer. It isnt like a real cd though. Those are silkscreened at a factory and they have minimums usually around a thousand cd's....

The thermal printer I am talking about is like this one:

Our studio has one. The best printing was on blank (no company logos) on gold Tayo Udens we bought in bulk.

This solution cost a lot, more than you should spend if you only make a few CD's for personal use.

There is high resolution paper made for this, but it cost more than normal label... Also, thes is trnaparent paer for CD to (good if you dont want a white background) ans some with sparcle effect

Take a look around...

The thermal printer is a lot, but to have a few cd's printed doesnt cost that much. You might run into a place that will only do a minimum. I dont know about those other kinds of cd labels, so Delisk, if you get a chance could you show me somewhere what they are (a link =) that'd be cool....

also, how many cd's are you looking at printing on?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, that answers my question

I'm looking to print around 50-100 CD's by the way.

Another question. How do I use photoshop to design a CD label and CD insert? Is there a special template I can download somewhere?
