exporting files from Photoshop to Illustrator

Hi there,
simple question - is there any way to import PSD files into AI while saving the Photoshop layers for editing in Illustrator (I am using PS vs. 7.0 and AI 8.0)? Thanks for any input,

As far as i know, importing PSDs in illustrator will not be layered. You'll have to control-A each layer of your psd, then bring them seperately into new layers in illustrator. In effect, you'll have exactly the same thing you just had in PS.
