Hello all,

I'm a total graphics noobie, but I am puzzled by something that seems almost stupid.

I'm using Photoshop 6 and at the moment, I just have a simple image, 760 pixels x 100 pixels. I have a dark blue background and text in the "North Carlina Blue" color. That's it. But when I try to save it as a JPG, the Save As Dialog box states the following: "Some of the document's data will not be saved using the chosen format and options." I've tried various things, such as Flattening the image, which makes that message stop. However, when I open the JPG in another graphics program, (i.e. Paint Shop Pro) or open it just through an IE browser window, the image is much darker than how it appears in Photoshop. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any and all feedback!

Thanks,
Lee

When you save to jpg you can't save the layers or masks so that's why that message is showing.

The darkening is an entire other thing. Photoshop has different color settings than just your monitor. Go to Edit>Color Settings. At default I think the color managment of RGB is set at sRGB which works for most monitors. So you could change it to monitor RGB which should fix the problem. You'll probably notice that all of your images appear darker in photoshop as well.

I'm not an expert at this so I could be wrong..

Wouldnt argue with the above advice - just to say that it might be easier to turn off colour management altogether.
