I'm new to all things photoshop. Anyway, at school I use an Apple, at home I use a PC. With the apple you don't have a background, you can see the desktop as long as your image isn't maximized. But on my PC I have a grey background no matter what. How do I get rid of it? I'm using version 7.

The reason is I don't have dual monitors yet and sometimes I like doing tutorials from the web. On the Apple I can use photoshop and read the tutorial as I go along as long as I have my image positioned right. It's much easier this way instead of switching between windows all the time.

Not sure if it will work the same as apple but you can minimize your photoshop and manaully resize it by grabbing the sides and top to match your image size. Then the palletes will appear to be floating on your desktop??
