I am running photoshop 5.5.. I had used this program for years with no problems. Recently my background default color has changed to yellow. I may have done this accidentally, I do not know. When trying to change this color, it gives me only variances of yellow to change to. I have unistalled all adobe products and deleted folder from drive, cleared cache, deleted all temp files, deleted internet temp files reinstalled and still have a yellow background. I have checked all color tables and went to custom colors and picked white. I still have yellow. I have clicked the default background icon, the default is yellow. When editing photos, it applies this ugly yellow tint to my photos (why the heck is my background color on top of my photos anyway, is it a mask maybe?) and I cannot see what the photos really look like until they are saved. After saving the photos look normal. I have tried everything I can think of, and nothing changes. Can anyone give me a clue to what is going on? |

Hmm... You have me there. Maybe you have a mask on and you've set it where it shows a yellow tint rather than the usual red tint it has for a default. I don't know. Hopefully, someone here knows how to help you. I'm sorry that I am not able to.

Try to restore the settings: delete ALL preferences files -> exit Photoshop, and then delete the prefs files in the Adobe Photoshop Settings directory inside the photoshop directory. Restart. Or i don't know.

I can open the color picker, enter the html code of the color white in the provided box and I get yellow. I tried changing the mask. It affects nothing. If this progam had not been installed from a disk, I would swear the thing was corrupted. ...phal |

I don't know if this will work with 5.5, but you could try dumping your preferevce file by hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt while starting Photoshop.
