There is no need to be working in anything more than 8bits, there will be no noticeable difference, also you would need a high end workstation or similiar powered machine to lug around all the extra info. I could refer you to a long winded technical discussion on the merits of the differences but frankly unless any1 desperatley interested I will spare the details.

Correct. No need for using 16bit per channel at this point. Even though I would love to do so. Photoshop has very limited editing features in 16 bits per channel mode. Bringing an 8-bit channel picture up to 16-bits will not change the look of the image and will only serve to hinder your ability to edit the image. Not to mention increasing the file size for no reason. |
