I've been reading on Team Photoshop's tutoral on how to make planets. The problem I'm running into, is when I was told to go to "Filter>Distort>Spherize". When I did this action, it only made the image wider, such as, instead of looking roundish (or the center popping up more to make it look more curved), it just made the image itself appear larger. Am I doing something wrong? |

Are you sure the mode was set to Normal?

The texture is on normal, and the clouds is on screen.

As in having the item selected? Yes. This is what I do, I create a new image (with a transparent background), on Layer 1, I fill it with a color, and replace it with a Style (a marble look). Then I create a new layer (Layer 2), and do "Filter> Render> Cloud", I have that set on Screen. Then, I select Layer 1, and cut out a circle, delete the other stuff (however the cloud still fills the whole picture), I do the Spherize thing, and it only makes the circle, become larger. |

I picture you have the round layer 'item' selected? What Banan was trying to say is that you should have the circle in a selection (windows: hold down control and click "layer 1", or Select/Load selection..), before applying the filter.

I forgot to say that if you have the style covering the layer, you won't see any spherizing happening, as the filter has no effect on the pattern/whateverstylesyouhaveadded -style. But, you Can flatten the image, then select the circle and apply the filter after the style effects have become one (;))with the layer.

Wait I think I know. I saved the file as a .bmp, then I openned it and did the Filter effect, it in a way works, it makes it more look like a planet, but it makes the circle larger as well. So basically, the roundish effect is taking place, but its still making it larger. |
