Hello, this may sound like an easy question, but for me, it isn't. I want to turn a colored picture into a black and white one, while maintaining some of the quality of the original pic, or in other words: be able to tell what's on the picture. Ofcourse it's not so hard to remove all the color of a picture, but then it would be a black/white/grey picture, and duotone, which does actually what I want, isn't a great help either, because there's almost no way of telling what the original picture looked like. Why I wanna do this you ask? Simple, I want to have an easy way to create an operator logo for my mobile phone any help would be appreciated!! Peter |

I dont know anything about the format for the phones, but try using the 'threshold' command.

that's great (I totally missed that one) but would it also be possible to have the grey teints appear as dittered black and white, so that the image becomes a little bit more clear? _i hopes this all makes sense, and that you know what i mean_ Peter |

i dont know but you could try playing about with the halftone settings in the filter menu - good luck and let us know if you nail the problem. (halftone could be used in conjunction with threshold perhaps?!?)

Well, I did solve it, a little, by removing all the colors and all the filled parts. After that, I created my own fill, by creating a new transparant picture of 4 by 4. I filled it with a few black pixels, created a new fill called light fill. After that, added a few pixels, and created a fill called heavy fill. Well, you get the point, I guess. Than I filled the parts with this new fill, and it looked kinda good. I was trying this out on a drawn picture (winneh the pooh), for photo's it's a different story, I guess. btw: Also tried wmbp. I works great!! Peter |

Yes, it it. You have to do a 'save for Web', and then on the right side of the screen, choose WBMP from the drop down list (the drop down list which also includes jpg-high quality jpg-medium, gif-128, gif-64, etc. Hope this helps. P. |
