Pen tool for custom "hodrod flames" help....

Hey guys, i recently read a tutorial on how to create custom hod rod flames using the pen tool, well i'm baffled, i hate this damn pen tool, anyone have any custom hod rodd brushes or shapes or can someone make me a shape or possibly help me out with this pen tool? I really need these flames for a project and i'm ish outa luck! Any help would be great. Thanks!

Dude, the pen tool has a serious learning curve. I know photoshop experts who can't figure that tool out! :D

Just remember these things: the Option/Alt key breaks off your previous curve's behavior, and the undo command. Just be patient and play around with it. Once you have a shape you like, go under the path's menu and make selections out of it, they're much easier to work with.

I'll try to put together a tutorial for some hot rod flames pretty soon, but I just started a new job, so I really don't have lots of time for fun stuff like that yet.

What is frustrating you about the pen tool?

the pen tool is by far one of the most powerful tools in photoshop, and any other program that offers it (as frustrating as it is), under no circumstances should you give up on it. Once you master, or have a good understanding on how it works, it is
very rewarding!!!!

Hey i figured it out! I guess i'm a fast learner lol, took me a day to drive stick good hehe. Not "perfect" with making the flames but i'm getting there. I'll post when i get them on my car!! Thanks for the help.

Ya, just keep playing with the pen tool and you'll start to figure it out.
