Hey there, I want to know, how to turn any length of a line in photoshop (7) into a perfect circle.

So say I have a line 8 by 50 pixels perfectly flat, how to curve that into a border of a circle?

Thanks

I cant think of a way to do it presently, certainly polar coordinates shouldnt work. Why not just draw a circle, or is there some reason as to why it has to be a converted line?

Well I have a pattern on a line, and I want that pattern to be around a circle, so thats what I need.

There really is no way to do it?

In photoshop as a raster object, it will be tough to wrap pixels around a circle. The polar coordinates filter is really the only way to do it. The problem is that the polar coordinates filter will probably distort a small line of pixels into a blurry mess. You can certainly try it though.

If you have access to adobe illustrator, it is perfectly suited for such a task. Of course, you would have to recreate your pattern as vectors. But you can wrap anything around an object (such as a circle) in illustrator and have it look very good.

Here's a small example of the polar coordinates filter. If you are using a 50x8 line, it will turn out something like this. Make sure your line is horizontal if you do this like my example is. Also, depending on where your line is on the canvas, the larger or smaller the resulting filtered circle will be. The graphic's canvas will also have to be square if you want to do this. So your 50x8 image canvas "has" to be 50x50 to get a perfect circle result.
