I must be having a brain meltdown because I could have sworn that I have done this in the past but I can't seem to do it anymore. I have an image that I have created with transparency. I turn off the background, and indicate "Preserve Transparency". I then go to "Save to Web As" and select PNG24 with Transparency. Then Save. When I go and view the file, the transparency is gone and a matte has been added. Even when No Matte was indicated during saving process. Can someone tell me how I can save my transparencies in images coming from Photoshop? Thank you. Sincerely, Tim |

You're right that would and has worked in the past. However, I am trying to create images that I want to use for special effects in Flash and PNG is the preferred format for import into Flash. Thanks for your thoughts though. Tim |

Hi, Preserve transparency is not for saving transparent images on web. Preserve transparency is the equivalnet of lock transparency pixels in Ps 6 and 7. Try to make a file with transparent background from the begining. Have you select transparency from the save for web menu? Mate is only aplied when you don't have this option checked. Adrian. |

Hmm... Save for web. PNG-24. Transparency is checked. It should work as long as your background has been removed. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps you are witnessing a problem with a layer using a blending mode that turns a different color when there is no background underneath it. When I do any work for exporting. All layer blending modes need to be set to "normal". If you have a special effect that required a different blending mode to be used, be sure to flatten the layers that used the other blending modes together and mask off/remove whatever is necessary. Thats the only thing I can think of. You're doing everything right from my perspective. |

I thought you could only save a transparent image as a gif.
