does anyone know and good techniques or a tutorial on how to make windows 'xp' looking buttons etc?..u know the nice smooth effect.. thx..

Go to where MiCRo recommended you to go. They have a lot of good tutorials on polished gradients, and 3D balls, etc. Those tutorials will help you with the "xp" style.
