I need some input on buying a Tablet, I am looking at the Graphire2 and the Intuos2, I understand that the Intuos2 is better but does the Graphire2 work good with photoshop? I wondering because there is such a large price gap between them, thanks, Michael |

There is 2 primary factor to consider while buying tablets... 1) Size of the sensitive area : Indicated by a rectangle in the center of the tablets... the bigger the better but is alos cost more. 2)Pressure levels : how may pressure level the tablest can see (or fell)... The higther the better... but here come the cost thing You should also condiser the folowing... 1) Does it came with a mouse : Some tablets come with a mouse... good if you dont have one but since youshould have one it only add to the cost... 2) Software : Some tablets come with software. I see one with a copy of Painter... some with Photoshop Elements... You get a good price if you want the sotware but if you dont want them it may be a waste of money... |

A Graphire2 will suit your purposes, IMO. The pressure sensitivity levels should be enough for any photoshop work. An Intuos2 has so many pressure levels that photoshop, at least in its current version, can't even use the pressure levels. It would have to be a 16-bit graphics editor to gain full use of an Intuos. As it is, photoshop is only an 8-bit graphic editor, and therefore, a Graphire2 is fine for it. As long as you don't care about the size of the tablet, it should be perfect. |
