I have installed Genuine Fractals to try out. It is supposed to be a PhotShop plug-in. But now I can't find it listed under filters or anywhere else. Although by default it installs into the Plug-ins>File Format directory, after not being able to find it in PhotoShop I also copied into the plug-in folder too in case it needed to be there instead. It does show up in the Help> About Plug-Ins list although it offers no help. It just shows that I have 20 uses left on the trial. I can't find it listed as a program and wouldn't expect to since it's a plug-in. HOW DO I USE THIS PROGRAM??? I feel like a compete newbie! PLEASE REPLY ASAP TO dean@timelessimages.com. I desperately need to resize a low res image ASAP!!!! Thanx in advance! Dean  |

The GF plug-in is done as a file format plug-in. Here's how to use it. First, open up your image you want to resize. Next, go to "save as". You will find that the GF file format .STN is in your file format options. Select it. Then the GF options box pops up. Save the file as "lossless" and close the image. Finally, go to "open" in photoshop and select the .STN you just saved. This will again bring up the GF plug-in, but now you can resize the image. Note that this is the only way to use the plug-in. It only works for files saved using its file format, and only works from the save and open commands in Photoshop. And no, I don't feel like emailing the response. This is just easier for me. |

Genuine Fractals is a pretty amazing program when you just need to get that picture bigger. I just caution you on its use. You can never enlarge something like that without losing quality, so be careful.

Thanx...yeah...I found that out. Although I should have known better, I thought that the program would allow me to increase size AND resolution...which I sadly found to be incorrect.

Also, do it in increments. it helps a little bit. i.e.= 72 dpi to 125 dpi to 225dpi to 300 dpi oh, and save the unsharp masking 'til the very end. happy genuine fractaling~ |
