well first......that splash is sooooo not needed. It serves no purpose except to display your logo.....which you could easily incorporate into your layout instead of the splash. Um overall its not bad. Its seems to be a "popular" look...but you pulled if off fairly well. 3 things though: 1) I agree with x-fusion...the nav text is just a bit small...its very hard to read. 2) The header text on the page seems to compete with the navigation for my attention. When i first opened the page i thought the header WAS the navigation. Something needs to be done there..to establish which is which. Maybe making the nav bigger (like suggested) would help?? Just some kinda contrast is needed. 3) The dark/sharp red with the light/faded gray is really a contrast from hell lol. It hurts my eyes to focus on it (for example the red bars on either side of the content). Maybe if you let the red be red...instead of red with a black gradient it would be easier. There is just too much going on...(contrast with the gray / a gradient / a bright color...thats alot of stuff to happen within a few pixels) |

Looking good, however I think it would be better with the following changes: 1. More "oomph" to the navigation. The actual text as a button is somewhat hard to click, I mean, not hard... but too small. I'm on 1280/960 here. Also, with the whole site looking so alive with that window effect it feels like the navigation needs some sort of mouseover also. But that's just me, I like fun navigations. 2. Scroll bar being not a real scroll bar. In the tutorials pop up window, the scroll bar is present and scrolls... however the actual bar you made blend in with the track color.. that's a bit annoying. I don't like that, it's not a bad boo boo but just annoying. That is all from me. |
