Thank you! Everyone else didn't give me any help but your reply...although long...was worth the reading. I like the way you think... I have gotten an email b4 saying that the lightning was the same and I can definetly see the similarities. Now, I was going for a metal look which obviously didnt turn out good.lol~~I did originaly use the metal texture on my tutoria for it but it definetly didn't look right. I was going for a smooth...not brushed look and I couldn't get anything. The chrome text on side, I kno sux big time but its just to fill up some space. I tryed to keep the preloader as simple as possible and it doesn't look so empty with the logo so thats why it's on the preloading page. The wires, I definetly need to change but I think it's better having wires connecting two "metal" pieces then just having the metal pieces connected. About the IFrame, I'm not completely familiar with div so thats why it's just an IFrame.lol~~Well, I guess thats all I have to say about your reply... Malevolent Jester, I am not going to use any websites or books to do this kind of thing because I like to work things out on my own and not depend on other things to help me. |

Okay here, this is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! lol. Degroat made an excellent point when suggesting to steal layouts in order to learn. I admit, this has taught me the most. Forget the tutorials, forget the lame inpirational design sites, forget it all! Pick a site that looks challenging and that visually pleases you, start with an empty canvas in PS, and try your hardest to emulate that site until it looks darn near exactly like it. I guarantee that if you do this enough times with enough sites, you will start to see what sucessful layouts are made of and how to go about in achieving them. When you finish duplicating a site that you idolize, trust me, you'll get a proud, "im da man," "i can acutally did this!" feeling in your stomach. Then after a while, you will start to come up with your own original ideas without over-exerting too much effort into the process (as you are). Good luck my man!

atdot, that's exactly what I just said. You won't believe how much the "Print Scrn" key has helped me more than tutorials. Art is something that just takes time. Besides, what's the difference between webdesign and drawing or painting? Nothing, except hte mediums - photoshop vs. paint or graphite, and a computer screen vs. paper. supersaiyan: no prob, I just think that complete bluntness is the way to stick something in someone's head, and that's really how they learn. Good luck with your new design. |
