I've been on a design link orgy fest party shindig tonight. Some of these sites are not "cool sites" as in exploding polygons and 2advanced knock-offs, but they are useful and educational, and those other types of sites are getting ****ing old anyway. So read and learn.

The Study of Design
Sort of a designer's blog, but it also has tons of great links and resources. Give it a thorough browse through. I haven't even seen all of it yet. Be sure to read the articles section. Good stuff on logo design and gestalt, etc. Just tons and tons of fantastic information. He even has a link to TeamPhotoshop! Hooray for us!

Stock design related forms and contracts
Forms, downloadable in PDF or Illustrator format. I know a lot of people have been looking for something like this for a long time. Covers just about everything.

  • Art Approval
  • Terms and Conditions
  • Bid Spec. Sheet
  • Creative Strategy
  • Mileage & Expense Report
  • Job Jacket
  • Print Questionnaire
  • Web design questionnaire

Like I said, great resource. Download and modify to your liking.

Media Inspiration
This is the parent site to the forms I linked above, but it also has a gigantic resource of links for all types of design stuff. Fonts, 3d links, tutorials, photography, stock photos, fonts, flash, and more. Not to mention a huge designer gallery with links to lots of designer's personal sites.

Color Whore
"A directory of nice colors"
Great place to start when you pick out the colors for your next site! It's a listing of colors, with their hex values, so you can easily look a color and then copy/paste it's value.

Color Match
Color scheme maker. Write in your browser. No need to pay for a program like www.colorschemer.com

Time Tunnel
Vintage illustrations and designs. Royalty Free.

Five line portraits
Draw your self-portrait using only five lines, then submit it to the gallery.

Design Contests
A listing of design contests you can participate in if you are bored or want free stuff.

The Designer's Guide to Brand Strategy
Intro to design, brand strategy, etc. Nice big PDF file with lots of good info.

Intro to Web Design
Very nice intro to web design. Covers just about everything briefly, with links to more in-depth info. Great for beginners and more experienced designers. I will be reading through it and following every link, for sure.

General Resource Site
Lots of good links to fonts, stock photos, clipart, vector logos, and more.

Well that is enough for now. I will probably post more as I find them.

It'll take a couple of months to read thru all of those links and the links on those links and so on.

Have fun ladies and gentlemen.

All of NASA's websites provide free high resolution images.

http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/

http://nix.nasa.gov/

These are a couple useful ones.
