Spent the weekend redesigning my wife's dog site. I think it turned out pretty well. I set up an automated news posting system for her, as well as an automated image gallery script, so she wouldn't have to mess with photoshop and dreamweaver just to add a couple of pictures or a news item. www.chattanoogadobermans.com |

Look nice, the navigation titles should've been plain aliased text, but that's just my opinion. Nice doggies, and the background is nice. :D

Nice, only thing I would add is a dropshadow to the main white area.

No, the one with the hills is still up. www.skylindobermans.com My wife designed the site herself the last time. It was really good for her first time, but she is getting a lot of traffic now and wanted something a little more polished. Here's something fun: http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=doberman+kennel Searching for Doberman Kennel on yahoo pulls up her site at number 2, and the other site I designed at number 4. Hooray! I guess there isn't much professional level competition in the doberman world. Most sites seem to be made with front page or geocities. |

Site looks good, but I don't really care for the background all that much. Way to distracting...unless of course the background is your focal point, which of course it's not. And the header photos could be colour corrected and just plain old made to look a bit better. Adjust some levels and stuff, they are dull looking, straight off the 35mm. The "wind" text on Sires > Max is kind of lame. Same with the icy "Max" text. It doesn't have that polished look that the rest of text has. The content is handled nicely though. Its clean and easy to read. I like that a lot. Very attractive to look at, which makes the afore mentioned points even more troubling. The sites a bit inconsistent in terms of the over all quality. I have to say that you could do a bit more work with it. But considering 95% of the websites out there are garbage, yours in top notch considering. And I'd like you to know that. |

Thanks for the honest comments Spectra. I was already going to mute the background a little more when I get home this evening. I'll just make it a little lighter grey color. I have a tendency to use really strong colors when I do those patterns, and then they overpower the rest of the site. I was also planning on removing the "Max" and wind blasted text. Those were the first two pictures I did, and when I got done with the rest of the site, realized they look really bad. So I will fix those tonight as well. I agree about the pictures needing to be color corrected, but my wife was sitting beside me while we picked out the pictures to use for the header, and she got mad at me when I tried to lighten and correct the pictures. I can't exactly say why... other than she doesn't like the way the dogs look when I fix them. I think most of the pictures make them just look like black blobs, but that's what she wanted, so that's what I did. Oh well. Thanks again for the thorough comments. |

Well, judging by your other sites, I have no worries as to how the final version of this site will turn out. :D I know how it goes on the wife/girlfriend thing. I just say, "yes dear" then make the changes later. Then I look like a hero cause it all looks better, even though she was quite adament about keeping things as they are. Oh well, thats the battle we face daily. Good luck on the site, hope its effective. |

I think it looks great deker... clean, simple, professional, but still good looking. I like the random images at the top that works out pretty nicely.... The only thing that i dont really like is the page doest go all the way to the bottom on some browsers... I found that i had this problem with some of the pages that ive been making as well, just put a black line kindof like what you have along the side on there, when it does fill the entire page it wont really make a differance, but when it doesnt it will still look like its finished, cause right now it kindof looks open ended i guess. But still I really like the layout, nice work as usual deker |
