Security Software

Hiya there ...
I was wondering if anyone could advice me on whats the top security software about. As i'm getting my own pc on the 26th Oct and i need to get some security software

First of all, install the latest updates from microsoft, then immediately download Firefox from www.mozilla.org and thunderbird for your email. Don't download programs like kazaa, and you should be good to go. Those simple steps will solve many many problems for you.

Here is my advice, some is same as dereks.

1. Download and install Service Pack 2.
2. Download and install Mozilla Firefox for your internet and Thunderbird for your email.
3. Install antivirus software, I have Norton Systemworks which manages a lot of stuff to help my computer.
4. Download and install AdAware, just google it. Run it every few weeks, it will kill all spyware.
5. Just make sure that you don't click on any dumb links or install "free" stuff, it normally will result in crap on your pc.

Have fun with your new comp, I got mine a little over a year ago, the week it came I had band camp from 9am-9pm for the full week, so I hardly got to do anything on it. :p
