Thanks to those that offered their help/opnions along the way. It's been way too long since I've built a PC. Just in case anyone is wondering... What he has: Dell P-266, 32MB RAM, 20GB (not stock) h/d, 15" (I think) monitor. What he's getting: POWMAX Case w/ 400watt Power supply Asus A7V8X w/ AMD Athlon XP 2400 Crucial 184 Pin PC-2100 512MB DDR Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM RADEON 9600 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP And I broke my $500 budget by only $3.84. Also ordered, but he's buying; an AOC 9klr 19" monitor ($159 + $20 s/h). Which is the same one I have and have loved it since I've had it. Overall, I think he'll notice some difference. :D I've already got the motherboard/cpu in the case and hooked up. The RAM and hard drive should be delivered today, well FedEx tracking says there in a truck for delivery. Just ordered the video card and monitor. |

I'm jealous... I'm thinking of getting a Abit A7N; AMD XP 2600; and 512MB Kingston DDR 400 to upgrade one of mine for $290 delivered. Then it'll only be a chip swap to go to an AMD XP 3200 400Mhz when processor prices drop again.

You can save $7.01 at NewEgg. lol. No, that sounds good. I was wanting to get DDR 400 for this comp, but I just couldn't afford to fit it in.
