Also, don't forget that LCDs have a fixed resolution. If you switch resolution on a LCD, pixels are basically stretched and zoomed in to simulate another resolution, usually making the picture blurry and ugly. If you are doing web or software work and want to see how your art/website will look at different resolutions, a CRT also comes in way ahead of LCD in that category.
I have a really nice Dell laptop with an incredible UXGA LCD on it, however, looking at it in any other resolution other than its native 1600x1200 resolution leads to blurry-ness.
