"Get any brand using the Trinitron tube. Also look at what the dot pitch is. Anything lower than .24 is roXor!! I believe even KDS has one with the Trinitron tube. It is the same tube that the expensive Sony flat screens use." um...while i was looking at an online retailer i notice that some spec. for monitor says dot pitch is .24 mm (min) and others say "horizontal dot pitch is .20 mm" and diag is .24, and aperture grille is .24 mm...etc etc. what exactly am i to look for? and does the tube type matter? i know the smaller # dot pitch is better, but what number should i be looking at for nice crisp clarity (looking at CRTs) thanks |

Wish I had enough to buy myself a huge 21". Then again, if I had 13Gs I'd buy this - http://www.ecourts.com.sg/ecourts/product_details.asp?special=&dept%5Fid=8007&pf%5Fid=107074&mscssid=TQDENS941G3W9HL1F69V9JMQCE5UCPQ3

I'd buy a 23" Apple Cinema display. But uhm, I don't know about all that dot pitch and aperture grill stuff either very much. I'd go somewhere like www.sharkyextreme.com or www.tomshardware.com and read their "best of" guides for monitors. You can usually find a really nice 19" for $300. |

the thing is the normal lcd panels only display upto 13million colors. A good monitor will display upto 32million colors. Apple Cinema displays will go beyond 32million colors. That is one of the reasone why they are so expensive, but the some of the best lcd panel monitors you can buy. you can test you screen's colors by creating an gradient. A simple white to black gradient will show any absents in color. |

Check out Tomshardware for an extensive review on monitors before you go running out and just buying anything. A few years ago I bought a Sony 420ges 19" Triniton monitor that was $700 today you can get it used for $185. Has excellent grafix and was voted top buy in PcWorld magazine at it's time. |
