Is it possible to share an internet connection between two computers using a hub? My Isp says they don't support home networking but they work with a networking company which will provide the network "gear" if you need it. I have WinXp and i have tried the networking wizard, but the result = no luck. :( :( ????? :( :( |

You'd have to enable internet connection sharing on the computer that the internet is plugged into.

You can do internet connection sharing through just a hub. I would use a router to do that instead, and routers are really cheap these days, but a hub will do. To share a connection between two pcs and a hub, you'll need one computer to act as the router using some sort of software. Newer versions of windows (like your Win XP) have built-in connection sharing, or you can get a another program like Wingate, Sygate, or Winroute. You'll also need two ethernet NICs in the routing computer if you have broadband, but you can get away with one if you are using dial-up. Plug your broadband modem into one NIC, and plug the other NIC into the router. Follow the instructions of the internet sharing program, and it should work. If you're still having issues after that, call Microsoft or whatever internet sharing software company you are using for tech support. |

you mean you want each computer to have a connection, so that if one computer is off, the other still has a connection? you'll have to buy a router for that i think. 'cause then the broadband goes into the router, and is distributed to the PCs. but with a hub, one computer has to act as the router, so it would have to be on all the time. at least that is my understanding. you can get a router for $60 now though.
