I just got a new comp and I want to network it with my old comp(has windows 95) It is 5 years old. I got my router and all that stuff I need and then when I went to identify the comp, there was no identification tab. For you that don't know where I am at, Control Panel>network. The manual (my windows95 manual)says im sosposed to go this network thing than click on the identify tab, but it doesn't have one. The only tab I have is configuration. Anyone know why I don't have this and how to get it? Does anyone know where I can go to get help on this, cause the microsoft lines, you have to pay, even to email them. |

http://support.microsoft.com The Microsoft Knowledge Base. One of the biggest online collection of documents in the world. If your question isn't in there, then, well, I don't know, because it darn well should be in there. |

wow, pay for support. that's sad...though i can see why they would charge people because there are so many bugs, they'd have a billion people calling everyday if it was free.

Hood, what's your new PC's OS? If it's ME or 2000, and maybe XP, you have to create a disk on the new PC to install onto the Win95/98 machines in order to network them. Check your new PC's help on home networking

it is XP and I made the disk already but then when I went to put it on my Win95, it said I needed 98 or 98SE at least and I don't know how to go around it.

that is what I was thinking to just put windows98 on it. It is a pentium 200, 2gig harddrive and 32mb RAM. Does anyone know if this is good enough for Windows98?? I am just using that comp for word and internet and small file storage.
