Hi, Just started to experiment a little with photoshop 7 scripting and ran into some issues. I've got this button.psd that consists of 3 layers. One layer has a simple rectangle on it. Now I like to change it's color using javascript scripting, but I dunno how... Somebody? Another thing is that I'm trying to saveAs the image as a GIF, but I don't want to popup all those dialogs and most of all I want the filename to be what I've specified and not tmp00003.gif. |

Just use Photoshop's Actions tab..If you want to do several actions on several files, state your actions (press the record button and do what it is you want your file to do and then press stop) and then do a 'Batch' where you select the folder your files are in, and come back 10 mins later and everything will be done for you. I doubt Adobe lets you hack into their software..you dont need JS.. |

Thanx for your reply. However, actions are not easy to use and very hard to edit. What if I decide I want my 20 buttons in another color than the one defined in the action? I have to make another action, doing exactly the same, with another color. With scripting it's easy, since you can make a function that takes the color and creates your buttons. I doubt you're familiar with the new scripting functionality of Photoshop 7. Well, now you know about it. ;) So, my questions remain... |

if it's only 20, why not dont yourself instead of typing here? You'd have i done by now..by the looks of things, if you make 2 actions, and in between you select the colour, you'd be finished in no time. Plus, you get to see the colour you're picking instead of upping a colour amount. The way you want to do it seems quite hard, good look with it anyway but i doubt anyone here is that advanced at scripting..

20 is just an example. And I want them in several colors. Which can bring the total to over 100. Besides, I don't want to create new actions each time I need another text on the buttons. But you've probably pointed out my real problem: I'm looking for a programmers-solution within a designers-app. Therefore: on a designers forum there are not much programmers and on a programmers-forum, there are not much who have in dept knowledge of a designers app like photoshop... Hmm... |

Well, it's a pretty specific script that only works with the button I made. To make it work with other psd files, it most probably will need some adjustments... Depends on what your button looks like.
