I don't have PS 7, but here in my graphic design studio we've opted not to get it yet. After reading a lot about it, it seems not worth a few hundred bucks, there are not that many changes to be honest, except for the fact that it looks very sweet in OSX, which we also dont have yet..

there isn't much new. you have the healing brush... but that's basically like the stamp tool. then a file browser... and you can have multiple nested folders of layer folders now i think. i dunno. it's not that much different as far as i can tell, but it does look better. and you can't add an avatar. we don't have them here. |

Unless you do a lot of photo retouching, or want a cheap, yet effective semi-replacement for Painter, photoshop 7 isn't exactly a must-have upgrade. Get it only when/if you want to try out the new stuff, of which there isn't much of.

I would wait like 2 months or so... 90% of the tutorials are all for Photoshop 6.0, its hard to find a tutorial for 7.0 these days + finding like filters and so on for 7.0 is way harder then for 6.0... in 2 months you will have all options for 7.0 to... |

I've been using both 6 and 7 the last few weeks and there really isn't anything that different between the two. There are minor changes in 7, like more blending modes and some other things but not much, as far as I can tell. I'm thinking that once everyone starts getting used to 7 it will then show some great advantages over 6. Till then I'm going to keep playing with both of them.

i love the new imageready 7.0 that comes bundled w/ ps 7. rollovers are much easier. But, I'm still using both versions as well. |

So what *I* am hearing is that my money would be better spent on more RDRAM or a new CPU for my system than for an upgrade?
