I'll bet some of you guys here might know about this...

I am interested in being able to print my own large format stickers for the backs of car and truck windows. I have a friend who was describing such a printer he saw at someone's house who prints these things as a side business. He said it was some kind of printer with a large roll of sticker sheet attahed to it.

Can anyone point me to a resource that describes this whole process and can anyone offer some recommendations of the most affordable printers to start looking at?

Thanks for any help.

Vinyl is the word you're looking for. Vinyl is the paper of the gods.

if you're looking for traditional stickers - i.e. full color, outdoor bumper stickers, for example, you'll need to be careful to find a printer that offers solvent-based ink, so your stickers won't wash or fade in a month, like so many lousy stickers do... along with solvent comes the EPA restrictions and really expensive ink.
(stick with the plotter, if you want my opinion).

Depending on how often you intend to do this, it may be more feasable to just send out images for processing into large stickers.
