I have seen some of the digital art on this forum and im just wowed at some of it, its amazing. I want to try this stuff out myself, and I was wondering what software, and hardware do you all use for it? Any scanners, digital cameras involved, anything like that?

adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator, any 3d rendering program... maya or 3d studio max, some use macromedia fireworks, and sure people use digital cameras and/or scanners... but if you want to do stuff i would just recommend photoshop its probably what mainly is used here... since it is teamphotoshop =).. and anything over 500mhz for pc and 333mhz for apple with a good amount of ram atleast 128mb you will be fine... the programs are pretty expensive so be warned... but its worth it.

466mhz celeron
256mb ram
GeForce 2 MX400 64mb

I personally use Adobe Photoshop 7.0, Adobe Image Ready 7.0, Macromedia Flash MX (for animation), Dreamweaver MX (for websites), 3D Studio Max 4.2 and Bryce 5 (for 3D)

I have a scanner and a graphic tablet also.

If I am to use lots of images I would go to http://www.istockphoto.com or http://www.freefoto.com

I have an IBM Aptiva PC with over 300mb SDRAM, 19" TFT monitor and a P4.

For beginners I would recommmend checking out other graphic design programs such as Jasc Paint Shop Pro before going onto photoshop, as they explain themselves in a very basic and easy to understand manner so you can get a feel of it quickly.
