belly buttons

this thought just occured to me. back in caveman days and all that, way back when, how the hell did they know to tie the belly button? i mean they couldn't have possibly have had the motor skills required to tie a knot right? so once i realized this it really starte dto bother me....and i couldn't really think of any real way to search for this on google, so if anyone has any theories list em

eh..yea this is bothering me, they couldn't cut it, i guess they ate it like in coneheads and then oh well , so i guess cavemen had no bellybuttons, just dead pieces of cord?

You obviously don't have a child . . . they don't "tie" umbilical cords, after the baby is born it falls off naturally within a few days. Doctors generally cut it within a few inches of the stomach.

The "caveman" would have to stop the bleeding though - that requires some dexterity!

Maybe the unbillical cord developed through evolution and they were fed a different way. It might have been an useful mutation.
