Hello all, Im interested in starting A)a web design service and B)a archive of art and tutorials (scaled down version of teamphotoshop). My dilema is, should I do everything off 1 domain/one company name or should I split it into 2 domains and 2 companies. Just wanting everyones opinion on which would be more fitting. Thanks Adam |

I would do two. I think it's kind of amateurish looking to have tutorials on your corporate site. Plus those sites would be for two completely different audiences.

I think it depends on how you will be presenting and running the second site. If the art archive/tutorial thing is going to try and be a legitimate business, you know... a real money maker where you are going to try and sell stuff from it, then I'd have it separate as a 2nd domain. But not if you are just going to throw it out there and put a banner on it as the only source of income to try and pay for the cost of hosting. If that's the case, I'd have your web design stuff on it's own domain, have it as your primary focus of the site and include links to the art/tutorials. You could even go a step further and also kind of *feature* the art/tutorials on your main page(s) with a small but noticable graphic and a link so it's easily noticed by people that came to your site looking specifically for that stuff.

And don't announce your domain anywhere before actually registering it. Someone might buy it and try to sell it to you at a higher price.
