I'm looking to expand my small collection of design and creativity books and thought this would be a good place to get some recommendations. I don't mean Photoshop Magic type books or Illustrator 10 in 24 hours. More like Creative Utopia, Logo Design that Works, The 7 Essentials of Graphic Design, etc.. So what are some of your favorites? |

I only have a few... PERMANENT by Design is Kinky is pretty good. I don't know if you'd be able to get one anymore though. It was released in Australia only, and DiK already sold all of the copies that they were going to mail out I think. I also just got Inertia 2002 put out by some Hungarian guys. Haven't even had a chance to look thru all of it yet. But both are pretty good. Only problem is that they all pretty much just have the same thing you will find on those artists web sites... But it will be good for reference when the trends change. |

that one does look good bob, let us know how it is. his first flash book was AWESOME. as far as my faves, the one's i'm listing are design books, not how-to-design or software books but collections of work from different designers...so my faves... 2nd Sight: Grafik Design After the End of Print - a collection of David Carson's work, stuff that got me thinking about graphic design in a new light. his first book The End of Print is awesome too. Why Not? - a retrospective of work from Why Not Associates in england, just a collection of killer work, great use of type. Typographics 4: T4 Communication in Print and on Screen - my favorite of the typgraphics series, just some interesting, different work in a variety of media. i also just picked up Big Book of Typographics 1 & 2 which combines the first two volumes of this series at a great price. chris |

very nice books bob and fig. Since they came recommended by you guys, I went to books-a-million and barnes and noble to find them. Was tough sorting through all those other books, but I finally found a couple lying around stuffed behind some photoshop 6 bibles. I haven't had time to read them just yet, we will see. Hopefully, they will come in handy very soon. Seems an old employer is looking for a pc tech that knows a little about web design. |
