Hi, I want to scan a couple of pictures for my web site, assuming I scan at a resonable high resolution, what dpi should I reduce it to for a web page. I did have an article with recommended dpi somewhere, but do you think I can find it....... Cheers Photoshop Newbie....... |

I reckon you should reduce your dpi to 72. it's the standard for web.

Cybling is right at 72 dpi. The reason for that I believe is that most *monitors* are incapable of showing more detail than 72 dpi so anything higher and it's just wasting bandwidth. However, if you would like for your vistors to be able to download and print your pictures at high quality, you should make a second version available and provide a link to it (stating the file size next to the link). I am working on a site for a photographer who wants this feature available to his visitors and I think we have decided on 300 dpi for the printable version.
