What is a decent price to pay for comp repairs? any platform - what is the going rate now?

My G3 went in the shop this week and I want to know if I got shafted out of $60...

(PC junkies salivating to type up some anti-Macintosh crap: Save it. It's been done. get over yourselves. - after all, you might drip some saliva into your keyboard and fry your PC, in which case, this thread may turn out useful, for a change!)

Alot of place charge $30-60 just to look at your computer. I think if there was a problem with it and it got fixed for $60, that's not too bad. I dont charge an initial fee, but I do charge $25-30 an hour.

Don't feel bad, the company I work for charges more for 1 hour than what you paid to get that fixed to look at Macs, and we don't know anything about them.

thanks - I feel better now. I'm cooking up a G4 as we type, regardless.

G3 is too old for OSX anyway. At least now I can sell it fully functional.

yeah, $60 is not bad.... I generally expect $100 minimum when sending one of the Macs to the shop.

I can remember back in the mid 90's paying someone $40 to take a screwdriver and short out the cmos.....NOW THAT IS GETTING SHAFTED!

Technically Torn, since a screwdriver was used for the process, you were not "shafted", but rather, you were "screwed"
