see i think im a Corel fanboy cus it was the first art program i touched 5 (about) years ago....

and Gimp is not a emulator, try it out, new version is out i think, grab "VM Ware" and run the gimp in a seprate window on WinXP play with it, its fun, and i can do tech. on it faster then i can on Photoshop (visversa)

naaah I don't buy that one. Especially when you consider most .cdr designers use a PC, most prepresses and newspapers and magazines use mac. I bet you deal with lots and lots of font & platform issues, too, am I right? I might be wrong.

and you're right about Photopaint. don't care for it either... yuck.

Now I didn't say anything about the .cdr traveling better than anything.... just that it travels well. It does travel "as well" though.

We, like your company have both mac and pc graphics stations... and yes the majority of the .cdr files are PC files... but not all.

Font issues, well, part of my job is to "train" the clients. So at first yes.... but not for long. Once you let them know what you expect.... and you wont accept anything less. Of course $100 an hour computer time to fix thier mistakes tends to help them create, and deliver solid consistant files.
A properly prepared file is gravy no matter where it was produced, Corel, Photoshop, Quark, Pagemaker, Freehand, illustrator....whatever.

Platform issues?.... nope

adobe. Cause it's what i have always used. It's what I know.

As for The Gimp. Any program that I can write scripts to perform just about any task in Perl, I'm all for it.
