Okay what is the best way for me to reformat and repartition my hard drive now that I have Xp already on it. What I want to do it remove it and remove my partitions. Then re-partition it and re-install it.

Partition Magic - http://www.powerquest.com/ Solve all the headaches. Here's a tip. What I do is, I made a Ghost backup of my C: drive partition. So everytime I want a clean restart, I just have to format the C drive and restore the image. Takes just 30 minutes instead of 2 hours if you clean install from scratch. |

Solid Advice! That is exactly what I do. I do an install, install ALL my applications set all my preferences in EVERYTHING. Then use Norton Ghost to make a disk image of the good install before anything has been monkeyed with. Then all you have to do at reformat time is back up the data that wasn't in the original installs (ie- stuff you created, downloaded, etc.) Reformat, blast the disk image back onto the machine (in about 20 or 30 minutes like side said) Next toss the "stuff you created, downloaded, etc." back onto the machine. poof... 40 minutes you are rolling. Macs are faster though. Start to finish on the macs at work doing the same basic process 20 minutes tops. |
