Cybling, take it easy, I was just like you a year ago or so...NO clue of how to buy a domain and all that.. it seems like such a BIG THING!!..

Well, I live in Finland, but I guess it´s about the same allaround..

When I purchased www.rcdracing.com ...it took about 48 hours to become registered to me, and another 7 to be reachable via the URL.... It didn´t seem to work that great for the first day, but then it got started real good.... So just have patience..I know I didn´t have.... lol

Well you need your DNS servers from your host. Your host then has to set up a site for you, which their DNS will redirect to your site. You have to get that information from your host, or open a command window and type this:

/nslookup -type=NS www.yourhost.com

Then take those names that it gives you, or IP addresses, doesn't matter really, and log onto your registrar and enter those in for your DNS servers.

Okay, cool.

I signed up for webspace, so that basically means that i have a host, right? And i also signed up for the domain, the site did both at the same time..So i bought my domain, and i bought my webspace, so that's it...bingo, finito, done and dusted. Yes?

So you signed up for hosting when you registered your domain? From the same company?

Yes, if you bought web space somewhere, you have a host. Your host has the DNS (Domain Name Servers) which your domain will point to. When you registered the domain name, it should've asked for those.

Mattboy...Yes, well, i don't know. I signed up for a plan which says that i get a domain and webspace. I don't know where the webspace is coming from. It was an all-in-one deal.

Mobile...Crap...No..All that happened was i filled out the form, then the credit card details, then a screen saynig 'congratulations, you have sucessfully bought a website' or something like that, and that was it. I wasn't sent an eamil, or any more info at all. Am i screwed?

No, if you got it all from the same place, everything is covered. I didn't catch that that's what you had done.

Ok, so it's cool? phew, i thought i blew my money away there. I would have expected a 'please wait at least 48 hours for domain registration' note or even an email of some sort. But now that i know that everything is covered, that's great.

Thanks guys, you're the best ;) :D ;)
