Elaborate on what? Why AMD rules? Or why AMD is bad with that cpu naming scheme? AMD rules because they sell cpus that are usually half or a third the cost of an intel cpu of the same or lower mhz level and actually beats an intel cpu at just about everything. AMD stinks for the XP naming scheme which attempts to make their cpus look like they have more mhz than they actually do. For instance, the Athlon XP 1900 is actually only a 1.6ghz cpu. This is done to try to get consumers who don't understand much about computers to buy an athlon based upon the higher number. AMD really doesn't need to do that as their performance levels beat intel cpus even without being able to reach some of the higher mhz levels that some P4s have reached. |

mrbog: I think it was actually a clever response from AMD to Intel's artificially inflated clock speeds on their CPU's. An AMD 1900 is equal to or faster than an Intel 1.9 Ghz processor--until the industry comes up with a better CPU classification to represent performance than clock speed (which will never happen while Intel is driving the ship).... I say kudos!

Just wait until clockless processors become the standard. :D
