All I can say is that I like and hate that yet another version of photoshop is coming out. Yeah, its good to get an update, but its not so good if the interface changes and interrupts workflow. Though I amd my company will probably hold off on getting it for a while. The only enhancements I see of any note are the improved painting engine, healing brush, and spell checker. The rest is just some more integration into imageready, but still not a full integration, which I don't like. And the healing brush is basically just an enhanced clone stamper. Best thing about it, IMO, is the new painting engine. Which the program Painter has addressed since its creation. Not sure how effective it'll be, but it is better than Photoshop's current brush limitations. Should have included a bit more additions instead of tweaks. If I was head of the photoshop programming team, I would have called this Photoshop 6.5 (arg!). I guess any new Photoshop is a good one. (?) I also believe that any good professional art program should not rely on a new version every year or year and a half (like photoshop and most of adobe's products). I think a 3 year turnaround plan, followed with a FREE service pack update at the midpoint in the lifetime of the program version would be a lot better. Adobe doesn't give away any of its editable programming for free though. |
