- well - last week, best buy almost screwed up when they advertised a pre-oreder price for the new gf4's at 139.00 per card. There were a couple thousand orders within a few hours and they realized there was a really big screw up. the price should have been 399. If I had 400 bucks and needed a new video card, I would still buy a cheaper gf3/gf2 and use the extra cash to buy something I really want. btw, I have a gf3 |

A bunch of my friends got it at that price (139$). Don't know if best buy is going to honour it. They've been pushing for just issuing a 30$ dollar coupon. |

A geforce 4 is nothing to get excited over, IMO. Its just a slightly readjusted geforce core to speed it up a bit. Nothing really new yet. Also, you have to buy the Ti version to get all the bells and whistles that the geforce 4 offers. The cheaper MX versions are severly crippled. Also no current games are really pushing that speed requirement unless you want to run at 1600x1200 with full scene anti-aliasing. Your money is much better spent buying an older video card part. |

saying that the mx version is severly crippled couldnt be more than wrong. my first geforce card was a geforce 2 mx from hercules. It ran just as well and stable as a geforce 2 or any of its more powerful counterparts. the main difference between the mx versions and the regular versions is memory bandwidth. The clock settings can actually be changed to the clock settings of a geforce 2 400 but doing a little soldering in the right place. Is that for the weak of heart or the person who knows nothing of electronics? No, but it is a feasible solution. |

Hey I'm using the stock Nvida TNT card that came with my HP so I'm the real loser Anything would probably beat that. And it has a whopping 8 meg of memory. I'm smokin' trying to render 3D stuff, NOT

For the release of the geforce 4 MX. Nvidia left out a bunch of features, unlike their previous MX cards. YOU are more than wrong, Axiom....! HAHAHAHHH! For one, they took directx 8 support OUT of the g4MX chips. Plus took out their "infinitefx engine". You can read about these omissions at tomshardware.com. So there! It aint about its clock speed this time. They actually have removed some parts of it. *thumbs nose at Axiom* :D ;) |
